Anderson Road Quarry Flood Lake Park is Hong Kong's first lake park combining flood control and recreational functions. The flood lake covers about 1 hectare with a storage capacity of 24,000 cubic meters (equivalent to about 10 standard swimming pools); together with the surrounding green areas, the park spans a total area of 3 hectares. Designed around the "Sponge City" concept, it effectively collects stormwater during heavy rains to relieve flood discharge pressure on the downstream Tsui Ping River. The park features facilities such as a floating bridge and viewing decks, while incorporating design elements to enhance biodiversity and support a thriving ecological habitat. Complemented by a spacious lakeside lawn, the park not only helped mitigate the urban heat island effect, but also provided residents with a refreshing and comfortable space for recreation and relaxation.
